Our team batting helmets rest on the high shelf while we are out on the field. The uniforms must all match and the helmets are the only way the boys can show all little personality, I love all the colors and cool designs.

Approach A Stranger
To be fair, Hank James approached him before I did (I was in Norfleet’s General Store getting a Pomegranate & Honey Green Tea).
This is Robert Wroe and he is quite the storyteller… and he carries a journal with just one entry in it AND he tells the best dirty jokes. Other than that, I know nothing about him.

Approach a Stranger
This is Justin. Justin and his friends are currently first in line for the grand opening of the new Ikea store in Tampa. They’ve been camping out since 3am on Monday morning. When I asked them why they were camping out at Ikea they simply answered that they had nothing else better to do. Looks like everyone was having a great time.

Approach A Stranger
My first experience on a photo Safari to the 24th Annual Brooksville Annual Art Festival. The “Hat Guy” was a vendor there, and was more than willing to let me practice my photography skills on him. He sold hats that he made out of seagrass.

Approach A Stranger
Met these college students in Gainesville. I asked them the theme of their work; no theme was the answer. Why are you out here? We got bored watching TV.

This is Jonathan Kioko, he is a sculptor who specializes in wood and stone. I met him at the art festival in Brooksville this past weekend. I was quite intrigued by his works which are all created by hand. He began the art of carving at the age of 14, and ultimately received a scholarship from the United Nations. He attended the Southern University of Louisiana and ultimately returned to Kenya where he taught young sculptors. He has traveled extensively, showing his work across Europe and has worked for Busch Gardens, The Animal Kingdom., and he now works for himself . I purchased one of his carvings where it is proudly displayed in my home.

We all know the dangers of meeting people (strangers) over the Internet. The Craigslist murder. The one that happened to me “Barelee18nympho”. Please don’t bring that one up if my wife is with me. Last week we met two gentlemen for breakfast to discuss mutual interests. Much to our relief they did not harm us in anyway. The photo is of Will shooting a performer in the park. Thank you Will T. and David P.

PS no one was harmed in taking this photo

Make a friend …
May is Approach A Stranger Month on SouthFloridaDaily! The task has been handed down to all current, contributing photographers to approach a completely random person in a completely random situation (in a safe manner, of course) and ask for their permission to take a portrait and maybe even get a little story blurb to go along with the photo. There’s no limit on how many Approach photos you can submit, but you must submit at least one. The photographer who submits the most (only during the month of May) gets a super cool prize. I haven’t figured out what it is yet, but I usually give out pretty cool prizes.
