Coffee 1

You’re actually getting a preview to a series of images I took at a coffee plantation outside of Antigua, Guatemala.  I haven’t had a chance to post them on my personal blog, but wanted to give you all the first look.  It was pretty cool to visit the plantation.  I had never really known what all took place during the process of making coffee.  These green beans eventually become bright red and that’s when they know when to pick them.  After picking there’s a whole long process that I am sure you can google if you’re really interested, but basically at the end, from this little green bulb, you get a coffee bean.

Pacaya 9

If you read my blog, then you’ve already seen this photo.  I took it from the top of Pacaya Volcano in Guatemala.  It was a pretty amazing experience to be able to get that close the the flowing lava (you can see it at the bottom of the photo).  This might be my favorite shot from that day of the trip… although there were a lot of good ones.

Guatemala'09_1293 blog

This man lives in a village off of Lake Atitlan, Guatemala.  I think it was called San Antonio.  I was struck by his humility as he stood, surrounded by the beauty of the work of his own hands, not really trying to sell us anything like most vendors, but just allowing us to casually look at his paintings and even snap this photo.  Although we only spent a few minutes around him, I sensed a peacefulness about him that made me wish I had time to sit down, talk and know more about this man.
Again, there are more people shots on my blog, listed on the right column.  Thanks for letting me share these images with you.

Guatemala'09_1298 blog

I just got back from a two week vacation in Guatemala.  Beautiful people.  Beautiful country.  Amazing adventure.
This is probably my favorite shot from the entire collection.  I have posted some more images on my blog (www.janie.typepad.com) and will be posting additional ones some time this week.
