Demonstration spread to the ellipse after the Kent State murders [manslaughter?],… very hot near the White House. Guy needs help for his girlfriend from the Medic. Though i took the photo with a Navy Leica wearing my Viet-Nam patches, i placed myself [pointing] from three years later “when my freak-flag was flying” in front of the camera.

We went to the National Zoo for my son Keegan’s 6th birthday. Here’s a butterfly that we saw in the “backyard zoo” exhibit.
Also, in case anyone ever stops by this zoo…be warned. It’s downhill one way. Uphill the entire way back.

During the summer in Washington DC, they have several free viewings of movies on the Mall. We took the Metro out from Vienna to go see the last one of the summer, Superman.
The balloons just added a very nice touch.
This one just came out perfectly…two friends finally finding each other in the crowd.
And the movie is on.

Cherry Blossoms around the Tidal Basin
I went on a photo safari of the Cherry Blossoms surrounding the Tidal Basin in DC last spring. Taking pictures of the gnarly trunks made me remember how much I used to love taking black and whites. Each tree has its own distinct personality, and photographing them in black and white really accentuates it.
