Stud 3

Spending the day on the Happy Tree Farm was an adventure. Evreything from cute puppies for sale to this guy, the farm stud. He was patiently waiting for his new mate to arrive, prancing around the feild and showing off all his glory. I love the way he holds himself with such grace and poise. Right after I snapped this photo, of course I had to change to the next roll of film, he went into a kicking a bucking rant that lasted but a minute. It ws beautiful.

On 02-15-2009, Will and I set out on a safari to Dade City. As usual our trips turn into unknown destinations and we end up in places we really never intended to. So, we found ourselves at the Keiper Family Hydroponic Farm where they grow Strawberries, Blueberries and other Vegetables and Herbs.  The very friendly woman you see pictured above is Deanna Keiper who is a stranger no longer. She was very friendly and allowed us to photograph her farm. Will then picked a couple of pounds of strawberries and we moved on to Dade City. I must say that the strawberries were some of the best I have ever tasted. They are pesticide free and what would normally be grown on four acres is grown on two thirds of an acre.  It is a U-pick farm and you can even purchase a hydroponic kit to grow them yourself. If you get a chance, stop and visit with Deanna @ 27907 Miller Road Dade City, FL.  I know I’ll be back.

Palm Cows

There’s just something to be said about seeing cows lounging under palm trees. Only in Florida!
The farmer was actually calling these cows for dinner. All of them were jumping to their feet to make a bee line back to the barn. The ones you see on the ground were seconds away from leaping to their feet to join in.
